[Podcast] Traveling Tips for the VIP and Sighted Supporter - Episode 25

I love going on vacation. And, most likely, you do to. But, sight loss can make those vacation plans a little bit different. Not only for the VIP but for the sighted supporter as well. Keeping that in mind, I'm joined again by my wonderful wife to discuss our adventures traveling with and without kids to a variety of different destinations. I hope you enjoy!

Traveling Around Together

My wife and I standing with Pluto at the Garden Grill in Epcot at Disney World

My wife and I have gone a lot of places together. We have done it on our own, with our kids and with extended friends and family. We love to travel, try new things and experience lots of different environments. But, we also know that this can come with some challenges for us since I am visually impaired. On today's episode, we discuss a lot of things about traveling. Here are a few highlights that you have to look forward to:

  • What we first consider when deciding to take a trip
  • How and what to pack
  • Different types of destinations
  • Some specific challenges to vacationing outdoors
  • A discussion of our recent trip to Disney World
  • And much more!

Here's the video where I talk about the audio description device at Disney World!

Word of the Week

EXPERIENCE

This word means “encounter or undergo an event or occurrence.” All too often, we let circumstances like sight los slow us down and keep us from doing things that we would really enjoy. While I haven't been great at everything, I have gotten to experience so many amazing moments. I encourage you to take the chance and go for it! Whether it is rock climbing, swimming int eh ocean or standing in line to see Mickey Mouse, don't let your limited vision hold you back!
